Forms & Features Online with Cecilia Caballero – AT CAPACITY
All are welcome to to a poetry discussion and creative writing workshop,
“The Uses of Anger”: Writing Our Wellness With Love, Rage, and Healing, with Cecilia Caballero.
In this generative poetry workshop, Cecilia Caballero will draw on poet Audre Lorde’s essay, “The Uses of Anger” and other BIPOC poets to explore the institutional and interpersonal dimensions of love, rage, and healing through a feminist and social justice framework. Through mindfulness and self-reflective prompts, participants will learn about ways to skillfully respond to our anger, our vulnerabilities, and our emotions. Participants will also explore how the inner work of healing can strengthen relationships with ourselves, each other, and our communities through the tender and liberatory practice of poetics. Participants can expect to walk away with a toolkit of exercises and new poetry drafts. No previous poetry experience necessary.
Based in Los Angeles, Cecilia Caballero (she/her/ella) is an Afro-Chicana poet, creative nonfiction writer, adjunct professor of Ethnic Studies, and co-editor of the bestselling book The Chicana Motherwork Anthology. As a teaching artist, Cecilia’s mission is to cultivate more communal spaces of storytelling and social justice for BIPOC folks and she has been invited to facilitate workshops at East Los Angeles College, the University of Arizona, and San Jose State University, among others.
